PIKE ANIMAL LEAGUE, SHELTER, & RESCUE
ABOUT US
PALS Rescue is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit registered Mississippi
charity. We share a concern for the tremendous numbers of
abandoned, neglected and abused animals in Pike County,
Mississippi and the lack of a shelter for these animals. PALS
Rescue needs your support. We are currently involved in several
new fund raising and community involvement projects. Most of
you know all to well the desperate need for an animal shelter in
Pike County. The cost of beginning a shelter could be as little as
$100,000. Pledges of donations, labor and building materials
could really make a huge difference. In the last two years costs
have been on a rapid incline and we must act soon.
The shelter will be for found, abandoned, abused, and
relinquished animals from all of Pike County. We will be able to
care for, rehabilitate and adopt these animals to good homes in
our area and out to other areas. PALS Rescue feels that the way
our society treats it's animals reflects on what kind of society we
are. This community shelter will have a variety of pet education
programs, spay and neuter program, a rehabilitation program,
and screened adoptions of clean healthy pets to appropriate
homes.
PALS Rescue supports No Kill of adoptable animals and
believes that overpopulation should be controlled by spay and
neutering and not euthanasia. We do believe in humane
euthanasia of animals that are deemed to be to ill, suffering or
vicious and/or overly aggressive and cannot be rehabilitated.
These decisions will be made by veterinary science or trained
animal control agents.
PALS Rescue has diligently negotiated and made numerous
requests over the past 8 years for the Pike County Board of
Supervisors, as well as Mayors and councilmen of all Pike
municipalities to work together for the common goal of a
community animal shelter. We will continue until this shelter is a
reality. We gladly welcome participation from any individual or
groups that share our concerns and goals.
The Pike County Board of Supervisors have deeded a lot in the
industrial park for a shelter. This is a lovely wooded lot that will be
a wonderful location. We still need much help to be able to
complete this community project.
Please, contact us if you or your club, church, or civic organization
would like to facilitate a fund raiser for PALS Rescue. If you are
interested in helping in any way, please, contact us today.
Donations may be made to PALS Rescue at any Pike County
Branch of First Bank or through PayPals.
Some County Officials have told us they are tired of hearing about
dogs. Seldom does a day pass that we do not get calls asking us
to help with a hurt dog, a found kitten or a starving horse. The
calls we get are from hard working Pike County Taxpayers. A
community shelter is about helping people as well as the animals.
If you are tired of having strays dropped off at your house or
seeing puppies and kittens along the side of the road, it is time to
do something about it. Make a donation, contact your officials,
and offer to volunteer. PALS Rescue does not have a way to take
in these animals until we have a shelter to house them. This
problem will not get solved without interested folks like you taking
action. Together we can build a community shelter!

Foster Homes needed
If you have the time and room to
foster, our foster program needs
you. PALS Rescue has a group of
loving fosters that share their
homes, unfortunately, most of the
time our current foster homes are
full.
What kind of animals are in PALS
foster homes? Some are beautiful
purebreds and of course we have
the usual assortment of mutts. Just
let us know if you can temporarily
open your home to a homeless
pet. We will place them with you
until we can find them a permanent
home.
The hours are long, the job
sometimes difficult, but the rewards
of getting their little tails to wag
cannot be measured. One might
say "it comes with a great benefit
package".
If you or someone you know can
foster contact us today. You could
make a world of difference.
Call 601-248-0704 or go to our
contact page and write us.
If you think Pike County needs an animal shelter you are at the
right place. Members of PALS Rescue have been working
toward the goal of a community animal shelter in Pike County for
over 8 years.
We have the vision of a safe, clean facility where stray,
abandoned, and neglected animals can be cared for,
rehabilitated, and adopted to loving families. This vision includes
working with other animal organizations, as well as county and
municipal officials to achieve this goal. This cannot be attained if
we do not all work together as a community.
